Katharine Staelin

The assembled nature of perception and thinking spurs K Staelin’s work, whether it be drawings about remembering the route of a commute or projections about our tendency to focus on one visual thing at a time. In instances the works involve relationships, for example, how we project and anticipate another person. The works themselves often combine digital media with drawing, the dynamic projections acting as commentary upon the static surface.

K Staelin has shown in New York at Smack Mellon Gallery, Chashama, Dutch Kills Gallery and Gallery OneTwentyEight, among others. Her collaboration with judsoN opened at Lycoming College in Pennsylvania and was subsequently shown at The Queens Museum of Art as part of the Fluid Festival, the Armory Show and the International Gallery at The Smithsonian Institution. In Washington, her work has also been shown at the Katzen Arts Center. In Canada she has shown at La Bande Video in Quebec and in Luminous Bodies at Artscape Gibraltar Point, Toronto. She also participated in the festival, Meanwhile, in Chemnitz, Germany.
